Biography

Leon has enjoyed over a decade of success throughout the media, demonstrating  a versatility as an artist that has allowed him to cross genres be it on stage, screen or radio. This along with a varied list of  TV credits have made him not only into a great actor but a household name. Underlying it all & at the centre of Leon lies a stunning voice, a great songwriter and a personality you can’t forget.

Music is a big part of Leon & this truly shows through his voice. His musical training came as part of male vocal harmony group 11/7 and as part of the band he went on to win numerous awards as well as being nominated for a MOBO for best unsigned act.  Studying performing arts at Liverpool Arts Centre for two years as well as completing a Music Performance course at The Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, Leon then went on to earn the role of Jerome Johnson in Channel 4’s serial drama ‘Brookside‘. His TV acting credits have gone on to include, Mersey Beat (BBC1), The Court Room (Channel 4), Holby City (BBC1), The Bill (ITV), Hollyoaks In The City(E4, CH4 & BBC America) & Doctors (BBC) as well as numerous short films.

“Hollyoaks In The City” proved a massive cult hit & his role as Tank Top was greatly received by television audiences. This lead to an invitation from ITV to appear on their smash hit show Soapstar Superstar where he impressed the judges & other contestants with his singing talents. Leon's debut single and video “Love got In The Way” soon followed, reaching number 2 in the dance breakers chart and consequently led to the recording of his first studio album 'Moving On'.

Now earning a name for himself in London’s West End,  alongside his most recent credit; appearing in the critically acclaimed revival of John Adam's minimalist Opera 'I Was Looking At The Ceiling And Then I Saw The Sky' at Theatre Royal Stratford East, London. Another note worthy credit being his appearance in Stephen Sondheims 'A Little Night Music' at the prestigious Chatelet Theatre, Paris, France.  Leon also recently appeared as 'Michael' in a revival of Jonathan Larson’s ‘Tick, Tick… BOOM!‘ at the Dutchess Theatre West End, as well as revisiting the character of Collins in a charity Gala performance of ‘Rent‘ at the Garrick Theatre in the heart of London's West End. Other Theatre Credits include: Child Catcher – Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (Number one tour), Collins – Rent (West End), Theo – Piaf (Donmar Warehouse), Deity – Wig Out! (Royal Court London) & Curtis Fenton- The Pro’s, Con’s And A Screw (Derby Playhouse). And he is pleased to announce that he will be appearing in a limited run of 'Elegies for Angles Punks and Raging Queens' at the Shaw Theatre, London for a limited run from 10th - 28th of August 2010 in aid of the Terrence Higgins Trust before starting rehearsals for the national tour of the Ben Elton and Queen smash hit musical 'We Will Rock You' were he will be taking on the role of 'Brit'.

Leon has worked as a television host, presenting 'ACTION' for the Community Channel on Sky Television as well as guest presenting on the drive time show for Liverpool’s Radio City 96.7. He also played the role of Omar Glover for two seasons in BBC Radio Merseyside’s serial drama “The Grove”.
